1) If not already altered, dog must be spayed or neutered at the expense of Hearts of Gold Pit Rescue on a date scheduled by a representative of Hearts of Gold Pit Rescue. Adopter will be notified by phone and email of the date that they are to drop the dog off for altering, at the expense of Hearts of Gold Pit Rescue. If the dog is not dropped off at the vet for altering, Hearts of Gold Pit Rescue will take the dog back immediately and the adopter will no longer have legal ownership of the dog in question. Adopter agrees to drop the above-described dog/puppy off at for altering on

2) Agree to care for this dog humanely to include providing adequate food, water, inside shelter, love and attention. Dog shall be exercised in a securely fenced yard or leashed walked. Dog shall not be allowed to roam at will. Dog will not be exercised in a dog park off leash EVER. Whether or not this breed is outlawed in your community depends partly on You and Your level of responsibility.

3) Dog shall be (1) titer tested OR (2) vaccinated at least every three (3) years. Discontinuing vaccinations of a sick or elderly dog will not violate this contract. ****Please consult with your veterinarian for advice.

4) Adopter(s) agree to provide essential veterinary care, as needed. Dog shall be kept on heartworm preventative monthly.

5) If dog becomes lost or stolen, adopter(s) agree to notify Hearts of Gold Pit Rescue immediately.

6) Adopter(s) agree not to sell, trade or dispose of this dog. If, at any time, adopter(s) are unable or unwilling to care for this dog, adopter(s) agree to contact and return said dog to Hearts of Gold Pit Rescue by calling (901) 491-2818 or (865) 679-4109.

7) Dog shall not be used for medical or any other experimental purposes, or sold or given to a pet store, supplier, or wholesaler.

8) Adopter(s) certify that we do not live in a city or county where “Pit Bulls” are banned.

9) I/We agree to notify Hearts of Gold Pit Rescue within ten (10) days of any change of address or phone number.

10) It is also understood that Hearts of Gold Pit Rescue may examine and make inquiries about said dog at any time. If not satisfied with the condition of the dog or the conditions in which it is kept, said dog can or may be removed immediately and placed in a different home. Once dog is taken from the adopter, any veterinary services needed due to negligence or lack of care (such as heartworm treatment or other illnesses caused from neglect) will be the adopter’s responsibility and payable to Hearts of Gold Pit Rescue.

11) I/We understand that Hearts of Gold Pit Rescue makes no guarantees or warranties regarding the health or temperament of this dog. I/We promise and agree to be solely responsible for this animal, and to indemnify and hold harmless Hearts of Gold Pit Rescue from any and all claims of liability for the conduct of this animal on or after the date of this adoption. This Release of Liability and Indemnification shall apply to all known, unknown or unanticipated damages resulting from my/our adoption, ownership or control of such animal.

12) Will keep the dog described herein as a FAMILY MEMBER. Dog cannot be chained or be confined as a backyard dog. Ears and tail of said dog CANNOT be altered.

13) I/We hereby acknowledge that I/We have read and understand the above terms and conditions and agree to comply with same. I/We understand that this is a binding contract enforceable by civil law. If this contract is broken, Hearts of Gold Pit Rescue will proceed with legal proceedings. In the event Hearts of Gold Pit Rescue prevails in court, defendant (you) will agree to pay attorney’s fee and court costs associated with a breach of this contract.
